There was a report on the news last night about the top 10 vehicles to get speeding tickets. The tC and the xB were 2 and 3 on the list. Anyone able to back this up? I know I have gotten about 5 tickets since I bought mine in Dec 2004. The study showed that most owners are younger and tend to speed more.
Well, you just repeated what I have already said. I am asking if anyone else that drives a Scion xB or tC has had the same problem.
Guess I should rephrase the question. Anyone ELSE able to back it up. I already know I do.
Although I have gotten so many tickets since I bought the xB (and do claim responsibility...nobodies fault but my own) I laugh and joke that its not like I can blend in with other cars that may also be speeding. Easier to notice me as I stand out with my toaster on wheels.

well i'm curious about this list of statistics myself. still i can't find such a report on the web that compares the total amount of accidents and speeding violations with other drivers and other cars. i do believe that's its very easy for organizations to manipulate statistics to prove a point. all it takes is some spotlight or statement in the media to give something a bad reputation. insurance companies love this sort of thing i suppose. just some mere mention of potential liability and now all those drivers who try real hard to be responsible suffer the penalties of those who don't treat the road with some level of respect. my former insurance company, gieco, didn't have very fond feelings towards my tc. they claimed it had high liability because it was a frequently wrecked car.

i can't say that i'm entirely exempt from their claim. i've never had any speeding tickets but i have had some bad luck. i lost control of my 2008 tc while driving over black ice and totaled it. i almost received a driving too fast for conditions violation, but the judge dismissed the case understanding that the situation was unavoidable. 2 months later while driving my replacement 2009 tc, under normal circumstances, a delivery truck pulled out from a stop sign as i was driving by and clobbered the rear side of my car. i was beginning to think that something about this car attracts crashes. i can't explain it.

now speeding is another thing altogether. it doesn't matter what car you are driving its still your fault if you are going too fast. unfortunately, part of the bad reputation that scions have are because of guilty by association. a person caught speeding in scion is more likely to be blamed than someone driving a dodge caravan. everyone wants the point out that its the sports car that initiated the recklessness. therefore, more incidents involving the sports car are going to be reported. like i said before thats all the insurance companies needs to hear. my insurance is now higher than it probably should be. let me tell you though, i sure have been driving like an old granny lately.

i hope that your insurance company has given you some forgiveness regarding your 5 tickets.

Yeah. The news report and police records show that the tC and xB are 2 and 3 on the list in the # of speeding tickets.
Combine that with the fact that you have gotten 5 speeding tickets in 5 years and there is your backup.

I drive a Toyota Prius and have 0 speeding tickets in the past 5 years.
