Hey I am thinking of buying a 2007 Scion TC but am hearing mixed things about the MPG. I drive normally, mostly highway at about 75 or 80 mph. No jack rabbit starts and little city driving. WHat are people experiences with the MPG of the TC?

Hey Bud,
How is it going? I own a 2007 Scion tC, and my driving habits are pretty much like yours. I mostly drive on back roads and on highway so my average combined speed is around 65mph, and no jack rabbit. :)
My best mpg on that car was almost 29 miles. Now if you drive like my brother does, jack rabbits, breaking all of the previous 0 - 60 records, you will be getting around 22 mpg, but i dont think you need to worry about all that. :)
I will suggest the same thing that I do to pretty much everyone, make sure you replace the stock Yokohamas from that car. They are expensive and are worthless. They are good in dry pavement but on wet pavement they can be problematic. I hope that helps. Thanks.

I have an 06 tC and i absolutely love it!!! The gas mileage is awesome they claim about 23 and 30 which i think is close to what i get. I drive about the same as you but i also have an aftermarket air intake/filter and exhaust which will also make the MPG better..i have no complaints about the tC though..i love it.. good luck :)

I drive about the same speed on the freeway for about an hour a day, then maybe a half hour of city driving a day, and my 2008 Scion tC can get anywhere from 20-30 MPG, depending on how I drive it. When I drive like normal, 27 MPG. When I drive extra easy, 30. When I drive like an asshole, or if I'm a little racey, 20. It's good that you're asking, though; Toyota is notorious for over-estimating their cars' MPG.

well, the tc's mileage can vary. i know people who've squeezed 28 city 34 highway out of their tc's, and some who get 22 city 30 freeway. the biggest factor on your gas mileage is one thing - your driving habits. and since you drive about 75 on the freeway, you'd be looking at no more than 32 mpg freeway at the very most. just make sure to keep your tires properly inflated, change your oil regularly, etc. and with those no jackrabbit starts you should be able to achieve a couple more mpg than what the epa says the tc gets.

i was the owner of a 2008 tc in which i drove mostly highway miles and i faired about 22-25mph. due to an accident i had to replace it with a 2009 and for some reason i'm getting more like 28-30mph. of course i've also been driving a little slower around sharp corners and backroad turns since then. guess it really depends on how aggressive you are as driver.
