Is a Scion tC a good car for a 16 year old boy?

My son's about to turn 16 and we are interested in buying a car for him. He gets great grades and is a very responsible person. We have been searching for cars for days now, and think we have finally found the one. But, does anyone know if the Scion tC is actually a good car?

honestly its always best to find a decent used car for a teen especially if its their first car because they learn on it and around 80% of teens cause more damage and wear to their first car than any other one after some are luckier than others and may only have typical wear but most tend to push their driving skills with the first one.just food for thought i just recetly bought a 2000 civic for my 17 year old sister as her first car and have put more into repairs than i paid for it from just first time driver error and incidents. but scions are decent for a boy though usualy pontiac grand am's or gran prix are good as are pontiac sunfires and chevy cavaliers

yes, they are exceptional cars for the price. if its used, even better. you can get a good deal on a great car. scions are great because:

1) built by scion using toyota parts (since the parent company of scion is toyota)
2) all scion tc's are imported directly from japan, and the reason why this is important is because cars that are assembled in japan tend to last longer than ones made here
3) toyota has a reputation for being reliable, and that has carried on to the scion brand. i own a 1988 toyota landcruiser with over 250,000 miles on it. only major repairs i've had to do on the car were alternator, master cylinder, distributor cap and the boost breaker. everything else on the car is original, including the engine, chassis, original hoses, etc.
4) lots of saftey features for the money
5) decent gas mileage
6) with basic maintenance, this car will go for at least 150,000+ miles
7) insurance shouldn't be too much
