What is a better car for a 18yr old who just got his license, a used 2006 Scion xB for $9,500 (15,000 miles on it) or a used 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (47,000 miles on it) for $11,000 (there is a 10 yr/150,000 mile warranty on the battery with the civic hybrid) (for those who say the battery is a lot to replace) the Scion xB comes with a warranty also not sure how long though.

The xB is the better choice, and I'm surprised you found one that cheap. If it is a Certified vehicle you'll get a 7/100k powertrain warranty. If not, you get the 5/60k. Either way you have the remainder of the 3/36k bumper-to-bumper as well.
The Civic is out of warranty other than the battery. Also, the hybrid technology on that car is already a generation old.
Neither is a bad choice, but I'd snap up that xB.

civic hybrid is plain boring. for a teen. (i am 15) there a plenty of more cars in the same price range with a little more oomph and style. scion is made by toyota and we all know that toyota last forever so dont worry about warranty
