Would a Scion xB be a good first car?

I'm considering getting a Scion xB as a first car.
I'm short and i like how it sits up high. It's small and made by Toyota, so it must be reliable. I like the first generation ones, so i'll probably be getting a 2005 model or so.
My uncle was talking to me about the Mazda 6 being a good choice also.
I fancy the xB more...

I'd like to hear your input and what problems you've had with them.

the Mazda 6 is known for transmission, and various other engine problems.

The xB is a great choice! its reliable, and even the base models come equipped with a pioneer sound system, air bags, and power everything :) not to mention its a bit slow, so your insurance rates wont be too bad.
