1st car for a 18 yr old, used Scion xB 2006 or used Honda Civic Hybrid 2003?

What is a better car for a 18yr old who just got his license, a used 2006 Scion xB for $9,500 (15,000 miles on it) or a used 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (47,000 miles on it) for $11,000 there is a 10 yr/150,000 mile warranty on the battery with the civic hybrid

I'd go for the Scion it's less money and less miles. Plus the warranty is only on the battery so if something else goes wrong with the hybrid your going to have to pay lots of money to get it fixed. I just think the Sion would be the better deal. Hybrids are new cars and they haven't got the kinks worked out yet, and the Scion should get pretty good milage anyways.
