1st car for a 18 yr old, used Scion xB 2006 or used Honda Civic Hybrid 2003?

What is a better car for a 18yr old who just got his license, a used 2006 Scion xB for $9,500 (15,000 miles on it) or a used 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (47,000 miles on it) for $11,000 (there is a 10 yr/150,000 mile warranty on the battery with the civic hybrid) (for those who say the battery is a lot to replace) the Scion xB comes with a warranty also not sure how long though.

I don't think it is right to buy kids cars, I didn't do it for my kids. I don't see any where in your post about this boy having a job. When my kids were that age they first had to have jobs then a car.
Teens today are spoiled rotten and the parents just keep giving in to them.
