This was supposed to be a factory option (I believe) that I had forgotten about. I was unable to find any info in the user manual in regards to this. I found another answer that stated:
While the stereo is off hold down the menu button until a menu comes up. I believe its the first item in there to change the color. Also while you are on this screen you can add a personalized greeting for when you start your car up and your radio turns on.
I tried this and it didn't work although this was in response to a 2008 Scion TC. That might be the difference.
