Is a Scion xD (2010) a good first car?

I'm 17 (and male) and by the end of this month my parents are getting me a car. I've been on borderline several times about which one to get. I've brought up the xD and other cars (Toyota Matrix, Honda Fit, and Scion xB) with my parents as well to consider. I'm swinging toward the xD since I've searching up information about it and finding good results, and also just a few bad results here and there that doesn't really discourage me to not get it.

Mainly I'm looking for a good hatchback that has good mpg, decent space, isn't that cost effective, and won't be that much of a burden with insurance. I'll be mainly using the car to go to school and work.

So would you choose the xD in my position or should I choose it?

I'm not really a fan of scions.. Only scion I would consider choosing is the tC.. Any car you choose wouldnt be a bad first car if youe parents are buying it for you.. lol lucky.. *cough* spoiled lolz.. I'm still going to get me my Mr2 and Supra.. Mr2 first.. and they are nice and not expensive cars.
